About our food
We produce everything ourselves. And sometimes, when we can’t, we source only the best.
We bake fresh foccacia, ciabatta and sourdough breads daily. We make all our own stock, (no bouillon cubes here…) roasting the bones, caramelizing the vegetables and letting it simmer over five days; the same care is taken over our chutneys, preserves and ice creams.
As ingredients are sourced mostly from the Boland area the menu changes according to the availability of fresh produce, which is delivered to our doorstep on a daily basis. Our herb garden, however, sits right outside the kitchen. We are privileged to have a butcher and a fishmonger who are passionate about food, and both share a keen interest in our cooking.
For inspiration, we cast about in South African, Asian and European, (especially French) cuisine.
We strive for excellence in our food, wine and service in a relaxed atmosphere. The chefs are enthusiastic and love what they do. As Chef William says: “We do simple, great food… that is simply great!”
All these come together in authentic and delicious
food - umami.
