Boroughmuir Blaze Basketball Club is based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Blaze offers the opportunity to be a part of a development-focussed club that continues to grow each year on and off the court.
Established in 1962, the club has a strong footing in the local community and now delivers weekly coaching sessions to over 100 players.
PATHWAY
Blaze offer a full pathway with squads at under 12, under 14, under 16, under 18, seniors and masters. The club competes in both the regioanl and national leagues.
Recently the club has enjoyed considerable success in its youth programme, with numerous players selected onto the national pathway in basketballscotland’s Talent Development Programme or invited to trial with the Scotland national squads.
PARTNERSHIPS
Our partnership with Active Schools has grown to include the Boroughmuir, Gillespie’s, Tynecastle and Liberton clusters. The club provides coaching to the cluster squads, facilitating their enter in the Edinburgh Cluster Challenge League.
The Club has recently been selected by the City of Edinburgh Council to take forward a long-term lease on The Crags Sports Centre which will be a genuine home court for the club and a basis for extended basketball and community development.
PARTICIPATION TO PERFORMANCE
It is now possible for a young player to begin playing for Blaze around age 10 and continue playing for the club well into their 40′s (and further in some cases…). This is helping create a family environment at the club and offers a truly unique opportunity for lifelong participation in basketball.
