Bako (pronounced BAH-ko) implicitly means white peach blossoms.
Peaches originated in China and symbolize immortality. There is a legend about the 8 immortal gods who consumed peaches for longevity. They waited six thousand years to celebrate the Feast of Peaches. Peach trees would sprout leaves every one thousand years and it would take another three thousand years before they started to flower and bear fruit.
Why call ourselves Bako? White peaches and blossoms are often seen in Chinese artwork and they are also a treasured fruit grown in our lovely home: Washington state. Win-win.
